Flower: Gray-brown male catkin; gray-green female flower
matures to gray-brown acorn; blooms in Spring
Fruit: Acorns; 1” long by ¾” wide
Foliage: Alternate, simple, oblong; six to eight pairs of ascending lobes; dark green leaves; turns brilliant red to reddish orange in Fall Large parking lots, lawn tree, buffer strips, reclamation planting or shade tree
